Newest "Crisis Intervention Team" member

For the past week, I have been at a school for work called Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). It's training learning how to deal with and handle the mentally challenged and drug/alcohol addicted persons. We had several instructors come and talk as well as patient's involved in the program. We also did "role-playing" which was interesting in itself. I wish I had video of this so I could show how crazy some of my co-workers are.

While in the class.... lets just say, I've learned a little something about myself and my family.... "We're Crazy"!!

No really, after seeing and talking with instructor's and actual patients with the illnesses, I've come to realize how BLESSED we are.

I'm hoping to get to use the training to make a positive impact on someones life, whether it be someone at work or even in my private life. Some of the techniques can be used at home to de-escalate a situation so that everyone understands what the other wants or needs. And, for a small fee ($$$), I could slide privileged person's some info. The more the money, the better the information. :)

So, give it up for me for being the newest member of the Crisis Intervention Team.

Yea.. Yeah......... I'll try and get some pics of the graduation ceremony and post them.

"Trust Me"

Ok. Here's the story.

Keri, Austin and I went to stay with Angie's this weekend. Nick stayed with a friend. While at my sister-in-law's, we had a great time (other than them staying on the computer almost the whole time). Well, we got ready to leave, so we all decided to go and get something to eat. Angie suggested Sushi, which I've never had, because I don't like raw food. Angie informed/educated me that not all sushi was raw and there were things on the sushi menu that I may like. Then the words "TRUST ME" and " You'll not leave hungry" came out of her mouth.

So... we went. At the sushi place, I ordered a dish call the 911, which was fish (raw), shrimp, some white stuff, some drippy orange stuff on top, surrounded by this green stuff, all deep fried (yum). Keri and Angie order some other sushi... which I'll get to that in a second.

When my sushi came out, I looked at it with an open mind. I stared at it for a minute and played with the chopsticks that I was trying to look like I knew how to use. Keri cheated and got the kiddie chopsticks with the rubber bands... In fact, she stole Maddy's sticks.

So I ate mine and it was not bad (next time I'm ordering off the menu).

Keri and Angie were so kind as to "let" me have a bite of their sushi. But before I explain that experience, let me describe what it looked like.

Theirs was a mixture of different food groups I can't remember, surrounded by the same green stuff and these curious looking orange bead thingies. Both Keri and Angie were saying how good the sushi was. So I "TRUSTED" them in their taste decision because they have not steered me wrong in the past. Before I took a bite, I asked Angie what the orange beads on top the sushi were. Without hesitation, Angie said something about "fish eggs" (Oh, wait........ I just threw up a little in my mouth), but they did not taste like anything.

Keri pinched a few eggs off he top of the sushi and ate it. She said they in fact "did not" taste like anything and that they "burst" in her mouth. So after some encouragement (ha!) from my sister-in-law and my wife, I tried some of the orange fish eggs.

I would describe the egg tasting sensation as....... YUCK !!! When I snapped a few between my teeth, I could not get to my tea fast enough. I swallowed the rest like medication trying not to taste them. After that episode, I drummed up some courage and downed the last peice of their sushi as they laughed at me. And yes, it too was nasty. I even tried to drown it in soy sauce, which did not help.

After we left the restaurant and I found my manhood again, we said our goodbye's and left for home all the while I'm trying to forget what just happened.

On the way home, my lovely wife wanted to talk about the experience we just had with the sushi. I told her when she talked about it, my stomach knotted up.

I told Keri that my stomach felt like when we got home and took a poop, I would have little brown minnow's swimming in the toilet.

It should be noted that all's well and there were no brown minnow's after extraction.

So I go back to the words my sister-in-law said to me in the beginning "Trust Me" and "You'll not leave hungry"............ Well, we'll just leave it at that and I'll let you all make the determination on what I'm trying to say.

Score is: Keri, Angie and sushi 1, me 0.

I love my family. Peace out.

1st Timer

Well, these are the first words on my blog. I've been telling Keri I wanted to write a blog. Now that I have one, I would like to say something smart or funny.......... but nothing is coming to mind.

We just got back from Arkansas visiting with Dixie. We all had fun hanging out with her and the cousin's, well, they always have fun together. I had a little time to bond with my youngest neice, Sophia. She's something else. She "made me" play with Barbie dolls and she painted my fingernails (a few times and different colors).

Keri, Maddy, Lani, Austin, Nick and me went to Mt. Nebo while Angie was getting Sophie's hair cut. Maddy is a little dare devil and kept scaring Keri when she tried to get close to the edge of the cliff's (I think we were about 2000 feet up or something like that).

Anyway, just sitting at Wal Mart on an extra duty detail pondering my life...... It's all good. Check
Keri and Angie's blogs. I'm sure they are going to have plenty of pics of the trip.

LOOK... Me on a mountain.....

Sorry, that was dumb.
